Prepare your pet. Before you start grooming, make sure your pet is calm and comfortable. You may want to brush their coat to remove any mats or tangles.
Assemble the clippers. Attach the desired blade guard to the clippers. If you are using the clippers for the first time, you may want to start with the 3mm blade guard.
Apply a lubricant to the blade. This will help to prevent the blade from rusting and will also make it easier to cut through the hair.
Start grooming. Hold the clippers in one hand and your pet’s fur in the other. Start by clipping in the direction of the hair growth. If you are clipping a thick coat, you may need to go over the same area several times.
Be careful around sensitive areas. When you are grooming your pet’s face, be careful around their eyes, ears, and nose. You may want to use a smaller blade guard for these areas.
Take breaks. If your pet starts to get restless, take a break and let them rest. You can also use this time to give them a treat or some praise.
